Why We Need to Talk About Pelvic Floor Health (Even If Social Media Won’t)
Hi! I’m Mayra, founder of Ima Yoga Method, and as I write this (well, speak this. Listen to the podcast episode version here) I’m probably still in my closet, hiding from the bedtime chaos. Why? Because sometimes the only quiet place a mom gets is the corner of a closet. And because what we need to talk about as women—our bodies, our pelvic floor, our real postpartum recovery—deserves actual space.
If you’re here, you probably already know what I’m talking about. Maybe you’ve googled “why do I pee when I sneeze?” or “is ab separation normal?” or “what the heck is prolapse and why didn’t my OB mention it?” You’re not alone. These topics are still whispered about (if they’re talked about at all), yet they impact nearly every pregnant or postpartum woman at some point.
So why don’t we talk about it?
I started Ima Yoga Method because I was tired of seeing the same thing over and over again—baby showers, registries, the cutest swaddles, but silence around the actual body that just created a human. Nobody told me what to expect after birth. Not in detail, anyway. Nobody explained how much your pelvic floor really does (spoiler: it does a lot). Or how many of us experience tearing, prolapse, leakage, or ab separation—and how to actually support your healing.
Even worse? When we do try to talk about this stuff on social media, the algorithm buries it. Censorship on women’s health is real—and that’s exactly why we’re here. This blog, this podcast, this brand? Think of it as your realest postpartum bestie. The friend who will tell you the TMI at brunch, send you pelvic floor memes, and show you exactly how to heal your core—without shame or complicated jargon.
So, where do you start?
Whether you’re newly pregnant, deep into your second trimester, or navigating postpartum with a baby on your boob and three minutes to yourself, you deserve tools that fit your real life. That’s exactly what I built:
✅ First Trimester On-Demand Program — Gentle, non-judgy movement and easy modifications for when morning sickness and exhaustion hit hard.
✅ Second + Third Trimester On-Demand Program — A 50/50 blend of prenatal yoga and pelvic floor classes that prep you for birth and help you recover smarter after.
✅ Postpartum On-Demand Program — Real, short classes that focus on healing ab separation, leakage, prolapse, and all the not-so-glamorous but so important parts of recovery.
✅ Pelvic Floor for Beginners Guide — A quick, $5 guide packed with bite-sized pelvic floor + core exercises you can actually do, even if you only have five spare minutes (and you will feel a difference).
Real talk. Real tools. Real community.
I believe women crave honesty. We want to know what’s really happening in our bodies and how to feel at home in them again. I’ll keep recording these podcast episodes—probably from this same closet—and sharing everything no one told us. And I promise: no fancy lingo you need a biology degree to decode. Just real tips you can use today.
If you’re here, you’re already breaking the silence. So thank you for being part of this conversation. If you’re ready to move, heal, and laugh through it all—jump into a program and come hang with us.
Your pelvic floor will thank you (and so will your cute underwear).
